Gaisce News May 2016

TY recently took part in their Gaisce Venture walk on Inis Mor. Students had to walk 25 kilometres on the island. Well done to all.

The TYs graduated with their Gaisce and school certificates on Wednesday 25th May. Rachel Burke received the Coordinators Award from Mr Mc Guinness, TY Coordinator. Congratulations to all.


SPHE Anti-Bullying Programme May 2016
As part of their SPHE Programme and in conjuction with an anti bullying working by Graffitte Theatre Students a competition was held to design anti bullying posters

TY's with their Facebuddies May 2016
The TYs celebrated their graduation lunch with their Facebuddies from St Josephs Training Centre  on Tuesday,17 May 2016 in the House Hotel. Congratulations to all involved in this wonderful programme.


Leaving Cert. Class 2016

Congratulations to our Leaving Certificate Class of 2016 who had their Graduation Mass in St. Joseph's Church on Fri May 13th. 

The theme chosen by the class is ''   I was here'  This theme was their reflection on their time here in school as Pres Girls;  journey through life thus far;  to life beyond school next September and the adventure that awaits as they move on. 

 Many thanks to all involved in the ceremony. Parents, teachers, Sisters all participated and afterwards all were treated to refreshments in the Home Economics Kitchen and again thanks to all who welcomed and catered.

Our Lady's Hospital Crumlin
May 2016



Congrats to Chloe who organized a pop up jewellery shop in school last week to raise funds for Our Lady's Hospital Crumlin. All the jewellery was handmade by Chloe and she raised €80. Pictured with Chloe are Jordana and Mr Murphy 


Facebuddies Cake Sale 4 May 2016

The TYs and the students from St. Josephs Training Centre held their annual cake sale in the school on Wednesday 4th May. Facebuddies is a programme where the TYs and St Josephs students work on issues such as drama, music, art etc each Tuesday in the Gaf. Thanks to Ms Nolan and all involved.


Pres Sports Day 5 May 2016

Our annual Sports Day was held in NUIG Sportsgrounds in Dangan on Thurs May 5. Luckily the weather favoured us and we had a wide ranging day of activities. The full range of Sports Talent exhibited by students and staff was wonderful! Each of our 4 Houses ; Blake, Darcy, Kirwan and Deane entered teams for each competition. As well as a comprehensive Track and Field events including, sprints, relays, long jump, short putt, discus, javelin we also had fun events like , 3 legged race, powerwalking and tug of war. The Staff vs Students soccer match was a highlight, with students winning this year with a score of 3-1. Many thanks to all involved in organizing this event.

The Meitheal Leadership Team Graduation April 2016

The Meitheal Leadership Team held their graduation ceremony in Esker Athenry. The guest speaker was
Fr. Peter McVerry who encouraged the girls to continue their work as leaders in the school. The Chairperson, Leah Fitzgerald, gave an excellent speech on the work they had done throughout the year.

St. Anthony's Credit Union Launch 25th April 2016

St. Anthony's Credit Union launched their College Bursary in school today. Wrap-up in school on Monday 14 March 2016

At our Wrap-up in school on Monday 14 March 2016, 23 students were presented with Certificates by Orla Prendergast, IBM, for completion of the Skills@Work Programme.  

This is the ninth year of the school's Leaving Certificate Vocational
Programme's very successful link with IBM, Dangan Business Park, Galway. ​

Proclamation Day
15 March 2016

All our students assembled for the raising of our national Flag and our national anthem was played. The 1916 Proclamation was read by students from different year groups.
Many thanks to the Centenary Committee for organizing this significant event.
